The “Tucher Castle” in its present form originated in the late Renaissance of 1590/91 from one of the three former patrician residences of the Nuremberg patricians in Feucht.

The Nuremberg patrician Herdegen IV Tucher had the property constructed.

In 1990 an architect couple acquired the now dilapidated patrician house and restored it in accordance with heritage preservation guidelines. In the process, the four corner towers were reconstructed.

At the “Tucher Castle” it is demonstrated that state-of-the-art technology and historic ambience can indeed complement each other.

With the ambition to shape architecture both technically and emotionally, the topics of events, working, and living are presented in a new light over an area of 860 m².

The building was largely renovated using building biology principles with a clear focus on sustainability.

For the renovation a range of environmentally friendly materials was used, including sheep’s wool as insulation, lime-casein paints, and natural oils for treating wood. Throughout all these measures, the two architects were careful to respect the historic fabric of the building and to revitalize it in keeping with its heritage.

Despite all the modernizations and the use of contemporary materials such as steel and glass, the building’s historical authenticity has been preserved, and yet the “Tucher Castle” has made the leap into modernity.
