I acquired it in 2017 and lived in it with my husband and child until November 2025 – now we have moved into a house.
What we especially liked about the apartment: It is bright – you have a lovely view all around, yet it is virtually not visible from the outside.
The layout is good: The bathroom and all the rooms are accessible from the hallway – no through rooms. The small entryway in front of the apartment door makes it easy to leave your dirty shoes outside. The open kitchen is spacious, and the living room offers enough room for a dining table roughly 1.80 meters long. Despite the slanted ceilings, every room has at least one very high wall, so cabinets up to 2.36 meters and taller are no problem.
The building community is very warm-hearted! In the communal garden, there is the possibility to plant your own garden beds. The caretaker lives in the neighboring house and doesn’t mind if you help out with the gardening – though of course, there is no obligation.
On especially hot days or nights, the air conditioner (brand: Hisense) guarantees a restful sleep. Since the roof renovation in 2024 (including new roof windows, 2 out of 3 with electric external shutters), it is no longer needed as often – but having an air conditioner in the attic isn’t a bad idea.
The building dates from 1954, but the attic apartment was only developed in 2006/7. The windows also date from that time (the roof windows are from 2024, as mentioned above). The garage features an electric sectional roller shutter. The private basement room is accessible both from the outside and the inside. I have carried out several modernization works: parquet flooring, venetian blinds/pleated shutters, a glass door between the hallway and the living room, air conditioning, and more. The dishwasher is from 2022.
The apartment is suitable for singles, couples, families with children, and shared flats. If I were to move in again, I would do the following things:
- paint the walls
- paint/renew the radiator in the bathroom
- install a new sink in the bathroom, perhaps a new shower screen
- get a new refrigerator/freezer combination in the kitchen
- add a few embellishments such as new silicone seals, new hinges
It is located in the immediate vicinity of the beautiful Lichtentaler Allee, the Lichtental Monastery, and the Schafberg. There’s a pharmacy, an Edeka, a general practitioner, and a bus stop – everything is just around the corner.
You would be surprised at the beautiful, bright apartment hidden within this (at first glance inconspicuous) multi-family house. The apartment features parquet flooring, a fitted kitchen, a daylight bathroom, a garage with a sectional roller shutter, and a basement (accessible both from inside and outside). The garden belongs to the community and can be used upon request. The apartment is virtually not visible from the outside, and you always have a view of greenery.
