A large tile stove is installed in the living room. Behind the garage, there is a garden house, and another shed is located next to the entrance of the guest apartment. Each structure can store 7 cubic meters of firewood. With continuous winter operation, the firewood supply is sufficient for 2 winters. This can significantly reduce oil consumption – even in the event of switching to gas. The chimney sweep has raised no concerns. Due to the technical design of the tile stove, combustion is clean with only minimal or no load on the chimney.
Note:
The use of plastics in this new construction has been largely avoided for ecological reasons. The “D” rating noted in the energy certificate was achieved with exterior walls made of natural materials. Poroton bricks and clinker bricks, with a wall thickness of 38 cm, were used. The gable roof was built as a double "Harz roof." Both the underside and the top side of the roof rafters were lined with 22 mm thick spruce planks with tongue and groove. The cavity was insulated with basalt wool. Thanks to the use of these natural materials, the house can breathe. The windows are also made of durable wood, crafted by a master carpenter from Eichsfeld, and fitted with insulating glass in good condition. Sustainability was a key priority. For the roofing, inexpensive concrete roof tiles were avoided in favor of Jacobi clay tiles. For the interior wood paneling, only local solid wood was used—predominantly alder! There is no veneered wood held together with chemical adhesives. This also applies to all the apartment doors, which were likewise made of alder.
