As one of Düsseldorf’s “old neighborhoods,” Derendorf has already undergone some changes. Once an absolute green area, the district developed into an industrial location at the end of the 19th century due to the newly built train station. Nowadays, this train station is already assigned to Pempelfort, as the borders between the two districts blur. Not least because of its proximity to the city center (a 25-minute walk to Königsallee), Derendorf is highly sought after as a residential area – formerly heavily influenced by industry, the district now boasts a well-developed infrastructure and is still home to various (large) companies.
