The 31-hectare lake, with depths of up to 14 meters and surrounded by an area of 35 hectares, is located at an altitude of 330 meters, set amidst the forests of the Hochwald and on the edge of Losheim. A large campsite featuring a family tent area, group tent area, youth tent area, 340 caravan pitches, and an eco-village, as well as the lake hotel with 85 beds and the wellness hotel with 120 beds, are available right by the lake for overnight stays. Three restaurants, cafes, a bistro in the Park of the Four Seasons, along with a year-round camping lodge and 3 seasonal snack kiosks, offer a wide range of gastronomic options. An experiential brewery (Hochwald Brewery) rounds off the offerings. During the season, not a week goes by without a lively village festival or funfair.
Losheim am See was awarded in 1992 at the state competition "Hospitable Saarland" and in 1994 at the national competition "Family Holidays in Germany." In addition, the community has been inspected and recommended by ADAC as a family-friendly holiday destination.
The 31-hectare reservoir, together with its surroundings, forms the tourist center of the municipality. The bathing lake is a recognized EU bathing water area, undergoing constant quality monitoring, and boasts excellent water quality.
