The Bolter Mühle is located on the southeastern shore of the Müritz in the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district. It is situated to the south of the Müritz National Park. The Bolter Mühle is positioned opposite the former Bolter Schleuse on the Bolter Canal, the northern section of the waterway Alte Fahrt. The mill is about 1 km east of Müritz, the beach, and the Bolter Kanal ship landing. The Müritzsteilufer nature reserve is located 2 km to the south, and the Müritz National Park is 3 km to the north of the Bolter Mühle. Various hiking, boating, and cycling routes pass by the Bolter Mühle.

The town of Rechlin is 6 km away. There you will find, among others, a school, daycare center, supermarkets, a department store, a post office, and a pharmacy.

The grounds of the Bolter Mühle border to the north along the Mühlenbach onto the Bolter Canal, which connects the Müritz to the Havel waters, the Mecklenburg Lake District, and the Ruppiner See District.
