Gut Ellernwurth is an estate that you hardly find anymore. As a three-sided courtyard estate with its own church tower and a long alley of chestnut trees, it exudes a unique atmosphere. The estate has a long history, which can also be read on the Internet. Founded as a breeding farm for purebreds, it has in the meantime served as a café, discotheque, training center, and much more.

Currently, Gut Ellernwurth is used as an equine breeding farm. Around 40 horses call this place home. The estate features generously sized stalls, run-in boxes, and turnout boxes. The pasture areas are spread around the estate; some of them are privately owned, while others are leased.

For riding, there are two outdoor arenas measuring 20 x 40 m and 20 x 70 m. The small hall (17 x 26 m) with its baroque windows is excellent for free-running or lunging.

At present, Ellernwurth comprises six residential units. The spacious main house (approximately 380 m²) with its unique hallway can be occupied by two families or generations. In addition to the conventional oil heating, the main house features two fireplaces. Another apartment offers 160 m², two units have 100 m² each, and one of 50 m² completes the picture. Additional living space is available and can be further developed.

Gut Ellernwurth is so unique in its architecture that one can only be amazed time and again. The attics alone are a real spectacle. With their size, they can easily stand alongside many churches.

Gut Ellernwurth can therefore be used in a variety of ways. Of course, horse keeping remains an option. But one can also very well imagine the estate as an event location. Getting married on the tower, celebrating in the attic, dancing in the grand hall—everything would be possible.

Another idea would be a rehabilitation center for horses, an animal clinic, or a center for equine-assisted therapy.

Of course, vacation apartments could simply be developed. Or a cultural center. Or residential projects combining young and old.

Gut Ellernwurth offers such diverse possibilities—the entrepreneurial spirit is all that is needed. Currently, rental income from the apartments and the potential leasing of the available horse stalls can generate five-figure revenues.

Gut Ellernwurth is, of course, part of the Wurster North Sea Coast and is located in a popular holiday region of Germany. The sea is about 3,000 meters away; from the estate’s tower, the sea can be seen. The village of Wremen is 1.5 km away. There you will find a nice selection of restaurants, from haute cuisine to seafood eateries. A bakery, a grocery store, and several charming shops for browsing and shopping can also be found. In summer, Café Dahl sells the best ice cream ever. On the beach, there are various options for chilling and snacking—for example, at the Strandhus, with good music and your feet in the sand. Wremen is close to Bremerhaven and is thus a charming blend of rural and urban influences. For shopping, both nearby Dorum and Bremerhaven itself offer every possibility. Wremen is a mecca for kitesurfers and is therefore becoming an increasingly attractive destination for young people. In the surroundings, summer festivals attract visitors. But extensive cycling tours are virtually a must. All in all, Ellernwurth is situated in an area that offers plenty to both the young and the old. The recreational value and the clean air are virtually priceless.

Gut Ellernwurth, of course, still requires renovation. When we took over the estate from a dairy farm, we already made many changes and improvements. However, there is still more work to be done. Our successor can build on our efforts. The beautiful thing about this estate is its solid construction. The original founder was very wealthy, and you can tell by the quality of the materials used. There certainly aren’t many attics where you can drive a tractor, and the wooden structures are noteworthy. It would be wonderful if this estate could shine in its former glory. After all, Gut Ellernwurth is one of the landmarks of the area.
