“Kaiserschmarrndrama” brings Eberhofer fever to Frontenhausen

The quaint Lower Bavarian town of Frontenhausen shot to fame practically overnight as the backdrop for the Eberhofer crime stories. With an increasing number of film tourists visiting the filming location, the town in the Dingolfing-Landau district is now exploring new avenues.

Film tourists from all over Germany, Austria, and Switzerland now come to see the filming locations and the Franz-Eberhofer roundabout – the most famous roundabout in German film history. The Eastern Bavaria Tourism Association even suggests it may be “probably the best-known roundabout in Germany.” Today, the life-size village policeman Franz Eberhofer and his buddy Rudi Birkenberger are immortalized in steel in the center of the roundabout.
