Heuchelheim an der Lahn is a municipality in the central Hessian district of Gießen, directly bordering the town of Gießen to the west. The roughly 8,000 inhabitants are distributed between the two districts, Heuchelheim (5,800 inhabitants) and Kinzenbach (2,200 inhabitants). The two villages merged on April 1, 1967, to form the municipality of Heuchelheim.

Heuchelheim is part of the Gleiberger Land cooperative, a region located between Gießen and Wetzlar. The main center is situated along the Bieber, only about one kilometer before its confluence with the Lahn.

Living in Old Age in Heuchelheim – “As Much Care as Needed, as Much Comfort and Independence as Possible”: The “House of Care” is implementing an entirely new concept in Hesse, noticeable in both the more spacious design of the living areas and the provision of personalized care services. The House of Care offers 81 care apartments, a house café, an outpatient day care center, and an administrative area for the outpatient care service.

Any required basic and treatment care services, as well as meals and other domestic services, can be individually and freely arranged by the supported living residents through a care service. The in‑house outpatient care service provides these services. The outpatient day care center, accommodating around 75 visitors, is intended for both the residents of the apartments and those in the supported living facility in the adjacent building. Citizens from the municipality are also warmly welcome. The day care is managed by the resident care service, which is continuously present to ensure professional care. The fresh‑kitchen is designed to cater to the needs of the apartment residents, day care visitors, and visitors of the house café, and is operated by the outpatient care service. The “House Cafe” is also run by the care service and offers its menu (lunch, cake, etc.) to all residents and guests of the entire senior center.
