This quaint small town is located approximately 20 km southwest of Zwickau and 20 km northeast of Plauen. It is situated in the eastern part of the Vogtland nature area as well as in the Saxon section of historical Vogtland. Lengenfeld is the core town of a large municipality that includes eight other formerly independent villages – today the districts of Irfersgrün, Pechtelsgrün, Plohn/Abhorn, Grün, Schönbrunn, Waldkirchen, Weißensand, and Wolfspfütz. Historical localities include Neue Welt and Pöhlwinkel. The A 72 motorway runs in the northeast of the municipal area. The town of Lengenfeld lies on Federal Road 94, which, north of the Schönbrunn district, connects at junction 9 (Reichenbach) with the A 72. Lengenfeld has a train station, and the district of Irfersgrün has a stop on the Zwickau–Falkenstein railway line.
