Today, the Sony Center – soon to be known as the Center at Potsdamer Platz – is considered one of Berlin’s safest properties. There are 134 spacious apartments here. A security service guards the property 24/7. In the enormous lobby, a concierge is on duty around the clock for the residents. Strangers gain access only if they have been registered in advance. Even the mail carrier does not enter the building; he hands over the mail to the concierge, who then places it in the respective mailboxes or, if the tenant or owner is absent, notifies them.

When the Sony Center was built, the production cost (land + construction costs) was said to be around €10,000. And when you take a closer look at the materials, you understand why it is so expensive. Potsdamer Platz symbolizes the heart of Berlin. It doesn’t get any more central than that. Buses, S-Bahn, and U-Bahn are right outside the building. As many underground parking spaces as desired can be rented. From the underground garage, you can go directly to the apartment.

In the surrounding area, there are two large malls and countless restaurants and hotels of all classes. Everything is within walking distance—from fast food to a 2-star Michelin restaurant.

Potsdamer Platz stands for Berlin’s transformation. Once a transportation hub and later a symbol of reconstruction, it is now a center for culture and innovation. With the KERB in the Sony Center, this area is being further transformed. The Food Hall unites a curated lineup of twelve gastronomic venues that present the local street food scene and thus reflect the connection between tradition and transformation.

For those who prefer something more budget-friendly: right below our apartment is a DB canteen (where fresh meals are prepared in the building), which can also be accessed via the staircase. Since it closes at 3 p.m., it isn’t bothersome.
