Lindenstr.11, , BrandenburgPublic transport 4 minutes by car • Lift • ParkingHouse Wilhelmshöhe is THE landmark in Buckow, the pearl of the Märkische Schweiz. It is located on a slope, exactly between oak and beech forests and the town, with a magnificent view over Griepensee. Here, the last rays of the day meet Wilhelmshöhe, the tallest building in town. There are marvelous sightlines to the vineyards, the stork’s nest, Krugberg, and even to the White Dove at Schermützelsee on one side, and on the other, to the founding-era houses of the old town stretching out to Buckowsee. One simply cannot imagine a more dreamlike setting for a house!
Often, Wilhelmshöhe is associated with Thomas Mann’s “The Magic Mountain.” And it’s no wonder: Buckow, with its 7 hills—and 5 lakes—is like Switzerland, only in the Märkische Schweiz.
In an extensive renovation, the house has been restored to its construction period of 1900 to 1902 (completion). Unsightly additions were removed, and the roof was returned to its four magnificent dormers. The integration into the lush greenery was reestablished through a comprehensive removal of surface sealing. Nature, history, and architectural style now form a pleasing symbiosis—as they did in 1902 when Wilhelmshöhe first emerged on the market as a hotel. Although built during the Art Nouveau period, the building belongs to the rare Heimatstil—evident in its imposing balcony structures and very large roof overhangs—and it is, of course, under monument protection.
Inside, everything remains as it was 120 years ago: solid, bright, friendly, and generous, brimming with the incredible charm of the Gründerzeit. On floors 1–3 of the main building, style elements such as very high ceilings, stucco, original parquet floors (castle planks), and original heavy wooden doors with unparalleled paneling create a sense of awe. Even the old double doors, originally part of Wilhelmshöhe, have been refurbished and impress with their remarkable height and span.
On the ground floor, ultra-modern apartments have been created according to the latest technical standards—featuring underfloor heating, floor and wall coatings with pigments, and floor-integrated shower areas. All apartments come with oversized terraces, which significantly enhance the living space. In an overall cool, factual tone, the heavy oak doors provide both warmth and a technical appeal. Congratulations to the architects who prevailed with their design, achieving such a wonderful result.
The old hall has been converted into 4 beautiful lofts, where the ceiling heights reach 5.00 m—providing an enormous sense of space. Additionally, there is a mezzanine level that is as open as it is flooded with natural light. The highlights, however, are the roof terraces, which are accessed via an oversized glass element and offer breathtaking views. You simply won’t find a better loft in the surrounding area.
Buckow, located in the catchment area of Berlin, lies in the heart of the Märkische Schweiz and the nature park. Its proximity to Berlin is a unique selling point compared to other nature parks—there is simply no location closer to the capital. From Dahmsdorf train station, Berlin Ostbahnhof can be reached in just 39 minutes.
Parquet floors, historic doors, a cozy apartment, a marble bathroom with a walk-in shower—all located next to the forest.
