Kühlungsborn is situated on the Mecklenburg Baltic Sea coast, approximately 25 km from Rostock. The town was awarded the “Seebad” (seaside resort) title on February 15, 1996. With a promenade stretching 3,150 meters, Kühlungsborn boasts Germany’s longest beach promenade. At the western end, the promenade leads to Baltic Square. The broad sandy beach extends for about six kilometers. Due to its Seebad status and numerous attractions (including the narrow-gauge railway “Molli”, Germany’s longest beach promenade), Kühlungsborn has also become an important destination for tourism.
