Kühlungsborn is situated on the Mecklenburg Baltic Sea coast, about 25 km from Rostock. The title “Seebad” was awarded to the town on February 15, 1996. With a 3,150-meter-long promenade, Kühlungsborn boasts the longest beach promenade in Germany. At the western end, the promenade leads into Baltic Square. The wide sandy beach stretches for approximately six kilometers. Thanks to its “Seebad” title and numerous attractions (including the narrow-gauge railway “Molli”, Germany’s longest beach promenade), Kühlungsborn has also become an important tourist destination.

In terms of infrastructure, Kühlungsborn is served by the local bus network and an ICE connection to Rostock (public transport).
