Zettemin is a community in the district “Mecklenburgische Seenplatte” in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It is located off the main routes, yet centrally positioned between Müritz, Malchiner See, and Kummerower See, and has about 200 inhabitants.

The village of Z. (Cethemyn) is located approximately 10 km south of the health resort town Stavenhagen and was first mentioned in a document in 1261. Due to the later establishment of a manor house, it developed into a manor village.

The village scene is dominated by the manor house Zettemin (in literature also referred to as “Schloss Z.” or “the round building”), which was built in 1750 as a symmetrically arranged complex in the style of late Baroque with a seven-axial central block (corps de logis) constructed in brick, to which a two-story, quarter-circle shaped side wing is attached on each side.

The main house is constructed as a three- (or four-) story building with a pedimented central risalit and a high hipped roof (with a 9.5-meter-high mansard) and is under monument protection.

– Preliminary discussions with the responsible authorities have already taken place…

Subsequently, the ensemble became the property of the local community.
