During the Castor transports to Gorleben, the facility served as the operational command center for the response teams. It is a limestone-sandstone building with an external thermal insulation composite system and was constructed in 2008 according to the requirements for public use. On the ground floor there is a large hall of approximately 800 sqm, which was used as a dining hall. A freight elevator, fire alarm system, emergency exit lighting, an accessible toilet, and a social area are available. Many rooms measure between 12 and 40 sqm, and 3 rooms measure between 90 and 140 sqm. The ceiling height is about 3.60 m on the ground floor and approximately 3.20 m on the upper floor. Due to its previous use, there is very extensive wiring installed. The ground floor covers an area of 1,500 sqm, and the upper floor 1,000 sqm. Following its original use, the building was used for further public purposes and later for commercial purposes. Since the main tenant has closed his business, the building is now for sale. Smaller units are still rented, with notice periods of 3 months to the end of a quarter.

The site is almost completely paved, is suitable for heavy loads, fully developed, fenced, and covers 14,808 sqm. It is located in the industrial area of Breeser Weg in the town of Dannenberg/Elbe. According to the development plan, 80% of the area could be built up, leaving plenty of space for expansion possibilities or for vehicle halls and similar structures. South of the site, railway tracks run, ending at a nearby transshipment station. The train station is situated opposite the site on the other side of the tracks. A connection might potentially be implemented in consultation with the town of Dannenberg, although the railway line is single-tracked.

The purchase price of 1,585,000 euros is comprised of:

1. The building – 60% of the production costs of 2 million, thus 1.2 million euros.

2. The land – 14,808 sqm at 26 euros per sqm, amounting to 385,000 euros.

The property was renovated in 2019. Settlement cracks had appeared in the masonry, which were stabilized under pressure by a specialist company. This was followed by wallpapering and painting work.

The center of Dannenberg is about 2 km away. The town offers all the basic schools (except vocational schools), both specialists and general practitioners, a hospital, cultural programs, and, of course, all shopping facilities including hardware stores.

Due to the previous usage, there are power connections including high-voltage supply at various points in the exterior area of the hall. Since the installation of a kitchen was planned, the large dining hall is equipped with a ventilation system, and there is an oil separator in the outdoor area.
