This places us centrally between the mid-sized centers of Kirchhain, Stadtallendorf, Frankenberg (Eder), and Schwalmstadt, all of which are easily reachable within 15–25 km. The larger center of Marburg, with about 75,000 inhabitants, is only 20 km away. Good connections are ensured by the B3, as well as state roads L3073 and L3087.
Despite the rural location, we benefit from very good medical care with a general practitioner, dentist, and pharmacy, as well as several physiotherapy practices.
Childcare is provided in the two kindergartens in Wohra and Halsdorf, and schooling begins at our two primary schools located in the same districts. Additionally, the Wohratal Secondary School in Halsdorf offers education up to the intermediate school-leaving certificate. Further secondary schools, for example in Kirchhain, Amöneburg, and Marburg, are available.
Basic groceries can be sourced in Wohratal, and weekly shopping can be conveniently carried out in neighboring communities such as Rauschenberg and Gemünden (Wohra).
An extensive range of activities offered by the church community, numerous clubs in the arts and sports sectors, and other organizations round off life in our municipality. A defining feature is certainly the river after which it is named – the Wohra – which flows through the districts of Wohra and Halsdorf.
