Brandau, with about 1,500 inhabitants, is the largest district of the Modautal municipality, which consists of 11 villages. Here you will find a bakery, a general practitioner, and a kindergarten. The municipal administration is also located here, along with a joint branch of Sparkasse and Volksbank. Other shopping options are available, for example, in Lautern (Edeka with a beverage market/Penny) and Reichenbach (Aldi), or in the nearest district Lützelbach (butcher). The bus connection to Darmstadt is very good. This bus also goes to Ernstnofen for the primary school and stops in Ober-Ramstadt (secondary schools). There are also bus lines in the other direction (Fischbachtal, Groß-Bieberau). By car, you have good access to the A5 towards Heidelberg and Frankfurt. Brandau is surrounded by forests, meadows, and fields that invite you to take walks and bike rides. For those interested in sports, there is the local sports club offering various disciplines, most notably soccer (with its own artificial turf pitch). There is also a tennis club.
During the 2013 renovation, all floors (except in the attic) were fitted with laminate. The kitchen, the bathroom, and the toilets are tiled. The walls are smoothly plastered and painted. There is a small balcony (facing west). The attic is currently not occupied but has been prepared for expansion. The garage can accommodate a rather small car, and an additional parking space is available in the courtyard.
