The single-family house was built in 1975 using solid construction methods. In 2017, after its purchase, we extensively modernized it. The gas central heating system from Fa. Weishaupt was installed, all the windows including the front door were replaced, the floor coverings were renewed, and the downstairs shower room was renovated. In 2022, the gable roof was renewed. At the same time, the garage roof was also renewed, and a photovoltaic system was installed on the south side of the house’s gable roof.
The roof insulation meets the KfW 55 standard. The photovoltaic system consists of 34 solar modules with a total output of 12.95 kWp. In 2025, a new fitted kitchen was installed. During this process, the floor coverings were replaced with 60x60 cm anthracite tiles, and all electrical wiring was renewed. The fuse box in the basement was replaced with a new one, and all fuses were exchanged and supplemented with residual current protection (RCD).
Kastorf is a municipality in the district of Herzogtum-Lauenburg and is located exactly in the middle between Lübeck, Bad Oldesloe, and Ratzeburg (each approximately 17 km away). The A1 motorway connection towards Hamburg and the Baltic Sea is reachable within 15 minutes by car. By public transportation, Hamburg can be reached in about one hour and Lübeck in about 30 minutes.
Kastorf features a volunteer fire brigade, a general practitioner's office, an osteopathy practice, a Tante Enso grocery store, a gas station, as well as a kindergarten with childcare and primary education areas, and a cultural and leisure center.
The built-in bathtub on the upper floor remains in its original condition. Originally, there was an additional kitchen installed on the upper floor, but it has since been removed; the room is currently in shell condition, as it was originally intended to be a large bathroom.
In the open living and dining area, the formerly open fireplace has been fitted with a fireplace cassette. Outside, at the rear of the garage, the house still features an outdoor fireplace. The garage is listed as a double garage, although newer vehicles are significantly too large for this use.
