Approximately 23.9 km away and a 25-minute drive from there lies the town of Frankenberg in the district of Mittelsachsen, located within the Saxon granitic mountains in the Ore Mountain foreland in the Zschopau valley, surrounded by many mixed forests such as the Lützeltal, the Striegistal, or the beech forest.

To the west of the town’s outskirts, the Zschopau flows by, while the Mühlbach runs through the district of the same name as well as through the town center.

Frankenberg gained special economic significance through the cigar-making craft and the automotive industry, especially through the Marko Framo (Frankenberg Engines) that were produced there between 1923 and 1933.

The landmark of the area is the Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Aegidien, whose associated bell tower is visible even from the highway. The lower part of the tower was built as early as 1499 and has been preserved to this day. The largest green space near the town center is Friedenspark, which was created from a decommissioned cemetery around 1890/1891.

About 4 kilometers from the town center is the municipality of Dittersbach, which, together with its district Neudörfchen, forms Frankenberg’s Dittersbach district. The Lützelbach flows through the town, which, south of Sachsenburg, empties into the Zschopau. North of Dittersbach, Federal Highway 169 and Federal Motorway 4 run by, both accessible within a few minutes by car, providing excellent connections to the surrounding cities.
