In Eschwege there is, among other things, a family-friendly outdoor pool, an extraordinary recreational area for water sports on and around the Werratalsee, and the Leuchtberg climbing forest.

Regionally well-known events in Eschwege include the Johannis Festival with the old town festival and the Open Flair music festival.

The nearest doctor, pharmacy, butcher, and small shop are in Abterode, about 4 km away – the center of the large municipality of Meißner, which is also the seat of the municipal administration.
