Zernsdorf is located southeast of Berlin, on the shore of three lakes. The largest
of these is Lake Krüpel, which is actually a wide stretch of the Dahme River.
The other two are Lake Zernsdorf Lanke, acting as the drainage for the Uckley stream,
and Lake Uckley. Zernsdorf is a district of the town of Königs Wusterhausen, which lies about
four kilometers to the west. Thanks to its own highway interchange 9 (Zernsdorf/Niederlehme) on
the Autobahn 10/E 30/E 55 (Berliner Ring), it is optimally connected in terms of traffic.
Its location at the edge of Berlin makes Zernsdorf a popular recreational area, with its population roughly doubling in summer due to the many visitors. The state capital, Potsdam, is located about 50 km to the west. It is approximately 65 km eastward to Frankfurt (Oder) and thus to the Polish border. Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) is about 20 km away; it takes about 20 minutes to reach the train station, and the bus stop is in the immediate vicinity. There is a school in the village. Shopping, a doctor, and a kindergarten can be reached on foot (about 10 minutes).
