In 1988 it was purchased by the owner from the city of Wermelskirchen as a former school building with an adjacent outhouse (toilet building) and shed. Also in 1988, planning permission was obtained for conversion into 4 apartments (ranging in size from approximately 55 m² to around 100 m²). The building was completely restored and modernized between 1988 and 1990, two parcels of land (FST 745 – 747) were added in 1999, and between 1998 and 1999 a garage hall for the owner’s cars was constructed on the eastern edge of the property. In 2006 the OLD SCHOOL was once again adapted to the needs of a shared living community established there for people suffering from dementia.
