The “Tucherschloss” in its current form was created in the late Renaissance period of 1590/91 from one of the three former residences of the Nuremberg patricians in Feucht.
The Nuremberg patrician Herdegen IV. Tucher had the property built.
In 1990, a pair of architects purchased the now dilapidated manor and restored it in accordance with heritage conservation standards. In the process, the four corner towers were reconstructed.
The “Tucherschloss” demonstrates that cutting-edge technology and a historic ambiance can indeed complement each other.
With the aim of designing architecture that is both technically and emotionally engaging, the themes of events, work, and living are portrayed in a new light across 860 m².
The building was renovated using bioclimatic construction principles with a clear focus on sustainability.
For the renovation, a number of environmentally friendly materials and resources were used, including sheep’s wool as insulation material, lime-casein paints, and natural oils for wood treatment. Throughout all these measures, the two architects paid careful attention to respect the historical substance of the building and to revitalize it in a manner that honors its heritage.
Despite all the modernizations and the use of contemporary materials such as steel and glass, the historical authenticity of the building has been preserved, and yet the “Tucherschloss” has successfully made the leap into the modern era.
