House Details:

The building at St. Oswald – Eibiswald 58 was constructed in 1955 and expanded in 1985 with an annex housing a doctor’s practice. A complete renovation and renewal of the roof took place in 2012. Since my purchase in 2014, it has been continuously renovated and modernized.

The village of St. Oswald ob Eibiswald is located in the western Styrian hilly country at the foot of the Koralpe at an altitude of 747 m – cooler in summer, mostly fog-free, sunnier, and warmer in winter than the basin of Eibiswald – Oberhaag.

The surrounding area features many fruit and vine cultures, numerous places to dine, and good regional products. There are many opportunities for hiking and cycling in the area – the north-south long-distance trail runs through the village. A heated public swimming pool with a slide, buffet, as well as a beach volleyball court in the village center complete the offer – as does a large children’s playground in front of the house.

Kindergarten and Schooling:

An all-age kindergarten and the public primary school are only 150 m from the main entrance. The secondary school with a focus on music is located in Eibiswald and is easily reachable by public transport (bus). A large school center with a secondary modern school (BORG), lower secondary school, and HLW (Higher Technical College) is accessible in Deutschlandsberg by public transportation. Universities and universities of applied sciences in Graz and Klagenfurt further round out the educational opportunities.

For everyday needs, there is a small shop in the building at St. Oswald 100, the Kaiserhof Inn in the center, and a gas station with a cafe on the B 69 bypass.

In Aibl, reachable via the B 69 in about 10 km, there is a well-equipped Spar supermarket with a gas station, car wash, a large children’s playground, an E-charge station, and an ATM with both deposit and withdrawal functions (Raika).

For healthcare, a general practitioner / family medicine specialist with an in-house pharmacy is available at St. Oswald – Eibiswald 58. The nearest public pharmacy is located in the center of Eibiswald.

The nearest hospitals with a medical department, surgical department, gynecology, and soon orthopedics are in Deutschlandsberg and Wagna (additionally with trauma surgery and orthopedics here), with lymphology available in Wolfsberg.

Specialist doctors in various fields can be found in Deutschlandsberg, Leibnitz, and Wolfsberg. Comprehensive hospitals with all specialties are available in Graz (university clinics) or at the Klagenfurt Clinic.

Transportation:

Country living while still being close to major cities....

Regional public transportation by bus or RegioMobil to Eibiswald and Wies, from where there are connections to Graz, Deutschlandsberg, Klagenfurt, Marburg, and Vienna.

At the Wies train station (14 km away, approximately 13 minutes by car) there is a direct connection via the S6 fast train to Graz, or via the Koralm Railway at the West Styria station to Graz and Klagenfurt.

The Koralm Railway with the West Styria station near Groß St. Florian is situated 34.8 km away (about 34 minutes by car) and is easily reachable via Deutschlandsberg or Gleinstätten.
