Tandern is located in the northern corner of the Dachau district, between Augsburg, Ingolstadt, and Munich, where the film "Beste Gegend" was shot.

Petershausen station, 12 km away, features a large park and ride facility.

A bus leaves Tandern daily at hourly intervals, and an additional call-service bus is also available.

The S-Bahn runs every 20 minutes to Munich, and the fast interregional train takes 16 minutes to reach Munich’s main station.

From Altomünster, 5 km away, the S-Bahn operates at 40-minute intervals.
