The fairy-tale district is located in the Berlin district of Köpenick, in the southeastern part of Berlin. The old town of Köpenick, Wuhlheide, Karlshorst, Mahlsdorf, and Friedrichshagen are not far away.

Shopping centers, several daycare centers and children’s stores, schools, and doctors are in the immediate vicinity.

Right by the Köpenick S-Bahn station (about 1.5 km away) you will find the Forum Köpenick shopping passage (with 140 shops), and across from it at Elknerplatz, a building housing Saturn, Aldi, etc. For the next 200–300 meters south on Bahnhofstrasse, both sides are lined with shops.

Since 1907, a 12 km long tram has been running from Köpenick S-Bahn station to Mahlsdorf S-Bahn station. The tram stop is only about 100 m away; however, thanks to the surrounding development and forest, the house is well soundproofed.

Public transportation connections are excellent.

The new regional train station at Köpenick S-Bahn is expected to commence operations in about one year. At that point, you can be at Alexanderplatz in around 15 minutes.

The public transport travel times from the “Unter den Birken” tram stop (with a daytime frequency of every 10 minutes) are:

Friedrichshagen, with its Bölschestraße, and the old town of Köpenick—each offering many shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions—are about 3 km away and easily reached by bicycle, public transport, or car.

In former air spa Berlin-Friedrichshagen there is a cinema, a lakeside swimming area on the shores of Berlin’s largest lake (the Müggelsee), and the Waterworks Museum.

In old town Köpenick, you can visit Köpenick Castle with its museum, a library, and the citizen’s office/town hall.

These districts offer a diverse range of German and international cuisines, including Japanese, French, Italian, Mexican, Greek, Argentinian, Turkish, Bulgarian, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Creole restaurants.

On the Müggelsee and the adjacent lakes—as well as along the Spree and Dahme rivers—you can enjoy a wide variety of water sports, such as yachting, sailing, canoeing/kayaking, kiteboarding/surfing/SUP, and swimming.

The forest begins right at the house. Here you can enjoy walking, jogging, cycling, and horse riding.

The Wuhlheide leisure and recreation center, FEZ-Berlin (about 3 km away), Europe’s largest non-profit children’s, youth, and family center, is only a few minutes away by bicycle or car. The Karlshorst harness racing track and the Hoppegarten gallop racecourse are around 4 km away. The Berlin Zoo is approximately 5 km away.
