Tandern is located in the northern part of the Dachau district, between Augsburg, Ingolstadt, and Munich, where the film "Beste Gegend" was shot.

Munich can be reached using public transportation (bus/train) in 45 minutes (the bus stop is 25 meters away).

The Petershausen station, 12 km away, offers a large park-and-ride parking area. A bus departs from Tandern daily at hourly intervals; additionally, a call bus operates.

The S-Bahn runs every 20 minutes to Munich, and the fast Interregio train takes 16 minutes to reach Munich Central Station.

From Altomünster, 5 km away, the S-Bahn runs every 40 minutes.
