Planig is a district of Bad Kreuznach in Rhineland-Palatinate. The location lies directly at the gates of Bad Kreuznach to the northeast. The immediate neighboring municipalities are the city of Bad Kreuznach, the districts of Bosenheim and Ippesheim, as well as Biebelsheim. Bad Kreuznach has approximately 1,600 businesses with at least one employee, providing around 28,000 jobs, half of which are filled by commuters from the surrounding area. The economic structure is predominantly characterized by small and medium-sized enterprises, but large companies such as the tire manufacturer Michelin, the machinery manufacturer KHS, and Schneider Optischen Werke can also be found. In 2002, the traditional Seitz-Filter-Werke were taken over by the American company Pall. By car, Bad Kreuznach can be reached via the eponymous junction 51 on motorway A 61 as well as via federal highways B 41, B 48, and B 428. With the exception of B 48, all of these roads loop around the city center, and the motorway is approximately 12 km from the city center. Public transport is provided by an inner-city bus network operating on 15- or 30-minute intervals on seven bus lines. In addition, there are numerous bus lines serving the surrounding area. The various operators’ lines are part of the Rhein-Nahe Local Transport Association (RNN).
